Polish labor market faces talent shortage and autonomy paradox

Polish employers face a significant talent shortage, with 57% reporting difficulties in recruitment according to ManpowerGroup. Key areas of struggle include engineering, sales, marketing, and AI-related roles.

Despite the difficulty in finding talent, a paradox exists regarding employee autonomy. Research from Randstad indicates that 56% of talents desire influence over their tasks or project selection, and 50% of respondents admitted to leaving jobs due to a lack of independence. Experts suggest that companies often hire specialists but fail to grant them the decision-making power necessary to succeed, creating bottlenecks where employees must constantly seek approval for routine matters.

In the context of a changing labor market, particularly for workers over 50, adaptability and continuous learning are becoming essential. Key competencies for long-term employability include digital literacy, AI awareness, and soft skills such as communication and collaboration within diverse teams. Professionals are encouraged to conduct regular self-assessments to identify their strengths and areas requiring further development to remain competitive.
