ROADPOL Safety Days: European police conduct widespread traffic enforcement
Police forces across multiple European countries are conducting intensive traffic safety operations as part of the ROADPOL Safety Days campaign. Running from September 16 to 22, the initiative aligns with the ‘Vision Zero’ goal of eliminating road fatalities.
In Poland, widespread speed enforcement has resulted in thousands of violations, including hundreds of speeding offenses in regions like Lower Silesia, Gliwice, and Mielec. In some instances, drivers have had their licenses revoked for exceeding limits by more than 50 km/h. In Lithuania, the focus has shifted toward pedestrian safety and monitoring the use of electric micro-mobility devices by minors.
Other regional actions include targeted controls in Romania on major roads like DN 7, and in Germany, where authorities in Kreis Viersen and Warendorf conducted special enforcement days focusing on pedestrians and illegal e-scooter modifications. These coordinated efforts aim to increase driver accountability and reduce the severity of road accidents through increased visibility and strict enforcement of speed and sobriety laws.
