Polish libraries launch interactive children’s workshops

The Biblioteka Białołęka in Warsaw organised a Bullerbyn‑inspired workshop that brought together children and adults to create a large collaborative painting, build imaginative structures, hunt for a hidden treasure and make craft jewellery. Participants re‑imagined Astrid Lindgren’s village, adding their own elements to a travelling artwork that will be continued by other groups in Polish cities.

In Racibórz, the municipal library’s “Lato z Biblioteką” programme offered a series of themed sessions. Children explored Tolkien’s Middle‑Earth, solved detective puzzles from the book “Biuro Detektywistyczne Lassego i Mai”, and took part in games led by author Kamila Mytyk. Activities included role‑play, crossword solving, portrait drawing and a mystery‑baking investigation, with further literary outings scheduled for July.

Both events illustrate how Polish public libraries are using creative, intergenerational activities to promote reading, teamwork and cultural engagement among young audiences.
