Polish libraries roll out interactive summer programs for children

The Municipal Public Library in Jaśle, Poland, opened its renovated Branch No. 2 on Kopernika Street and launched the project “Czy Kopernik zjadał piernik? – nauka, wyobraźnia i kosmos”. The initiative offers a mobile planetarium, ten hands‑on workshops, and two talks with popular‑science author Bogusław Janiszewski, targeting preschoolers and primary‑school pupils. Activities include building galaxy models, exploring black holes and other cosmic phenomena, and encouraging children to see books as gateways to scientific adventure.

In Warsaw, the Nautilus Library organized a summer program that combined creativity and friendship. Children participated in artistic workshops such as painting stones, decorating paper bags shaped like bears, and designing their own board games. The schedule also featured film screenings and guided reading sessions, fostering imagination, teamwork and logical thinking. Both libraries aim to make learning fun and accessible during the school break.
