Poland boosts water safety with patrols, festivals and community events

In early August, the Social Fishery Guard of Bieszczady County conducted patrols on Lake Solina, checking anglers' permits and noting a continued drop in water level, but reported no violations. Around the same time, police in Świętochłowice continued their "Ticket for the pool instead of a fine" campaign, warning residents about the dangers of swimming in unsupervised water bodies and offering vouchers for municipal swimming pools.

From July 31 to August 2, the Olsztyn Sailing Club hosted the "Safety on the Wave" action at CRS Ukiel, providing water‑rescue demonstrations, sailing lessons for children, SUP boarding, and workshops on responsible water recreation. The event attracted many locals and tourists and emphasized education as a key to preventing accidents.

On August 29, the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – Hydrological Station (IMGW‑PIB) participated in the III Clean Lakes Festival at Lake Raduńskie Górne, presenting modern hydrological‑meteorological monitoring methods and highlighting the role of scientific data in lake protection. Together, these initiatives illustrate a coordinated effort across Polish authorities and organisations to promote safe and sustainable use of water resources.
