Polish Local Referendums Target Officials in Lisia Góra and Kolbuszowski
In the municipality of Lisia Góra, a resident committee has launched a referendum procedure to recall the mayor and the municipal council before the end of their term. The initiative, driven by distrust over proposed photovoltaic farms and energy storage projects, aims to collect at least 1,230 signatures, with organizers seeking around 1,500. Documents have been filed with the local and national election offices, and the committee has 60 days to gather support.
In Kolbuszowski County, activists have gathered signatures to trigger a referendum on dismissing the county council ahead of its term. After verification by the National Electoral Office, 5,258 of the 6,687 submitted signatures were deemed valid, exceeding the required threshold. The referendum, asking voters whether they support the council's early dismissal, is scheduled for 30 August.
