Polish local councils approve 2025 budgets, grant votes of confidence and absolution

Across Poland, municipal and county councils held sessions in June 2024‑25 to review 2025 financial performance and to vote on confidence in their executives. In the Warmian‑Masurian Voivodeship the regional board received a confidence vote (17‑12‑1) and absolution after reporting a 97.7 % revenue execution. Similar motions succeeded in Drawsko Gmina, Nowa Ruda (Romania), Mielec Gmina, Biłgoraj County, Sanok County, Racibórz County, Łódź city and several other municipalities. The votes were largely unanimous, with most councils recording support from all or nearly all members. Reported budget execution rates ranged from 96 % to nearly 103 % of planned income, and many authorities highlighted major investments in road infrastructure, schools, health facilities and renewable energy. Łódź’s mayor received both confidence and absolution despite opposition criticism over rising debt, while the Łódź budget posted a 7.25 billion‑złoty income and over 1 billion‑złoty in capital spending. County budgets, such as Biłgoraj’s, showed modest deficits financed by external loans, and Racibórz County reported a surplus of about 10.7 million złoty. Across the board, councils praised the use of EU and national funds, noting projects from road upgrades to modernisation of health and cultural institutions.
