Polish media faces scrutiny over TVP3 dismissal and live broadcast profanity
Polish media is facing scrutiny following two separate incidents involving public and commercial broadcasting.
At TVP3 Wrocław, Ewa Wolniewicz was dismissed from her position as director in May 2026 following reports of censorship and internal unrest. The dismissal occurred after the station allegedly blocked a report by journalist Robert Jałochy concerning Wrocław Mayor Jacek Sutryk and the Collegium Humanum affair. Despite her removal, reports indicate Wolniewicz remains on the state broadcaster's payroll.
In a separate matter, the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) is reviewing complaints regarding actress Izabela Kuna. During a live broadcast of ‘Tańce z gwiazdami’ (Dancing with the Stars), Kuna used profanity during an interview. While some viewers praised her spontaneity, others filed formal complaints with the regulator regarding the use of vulgar language during a live Sunday program.
