Polish medical sector salaries face transparency scrutiny
An investigation by the civic organization Watchdog Polska into medical sector salaries has revealed significant pay disparities and challenges regarding transparency in Polish hospitals. After a high-profile case involving a 27-year-old physician in Warsaw, the organization submitted public information requests to 1,358 medical entities to examine annual gross earnings for 2025.
The results indicate a lack of transparency: only 156 hospitals disclosed data, and only 59 provided full annual payroll lists. Of the inquiries, 368 institutions refused to provide information, while 472 did not respond at all.
Specific findings highlight extreme earnings in certain facilities. In Gorzów, a physician at the Wielospecjalistyczny Szpital Wojewódzki earned 2.3 million PLN annually. In Zamość, a radiologist at the Szpital Wojewódzki reported earnings of 2,741,513 PLN. In Zamość, three doctors earned over 1 million PLN, and 23 doctors earned over 500,000 PLN.
