Polish methane‑neutralising reactor and emissions report underscore climate mitigation efforts

Scientists at Jagiellonian University in Kraków have created a modular catalytic reactor, VAMPiRE (Ventilation Air Methane Processing with Innovative Reactor for Energy recovery), capable of neutralising methane even at trace concentrations. The technology could be adopted by various industrial sectors to reduce emissions of the potent greenhouse gas.

A new analysis by the International Centre for Environmental Law shows that governments and corporations have been aware of the climate impact of fossil‑fuel emissions for decades. Historical documents from the United States and Europe demonstrate early knowledge of CO₂‑related warming, and the report stresses legal obligations under the International Court of Justice to prevent and mitigate climate damage.
