Polish military academy student arrested on espionage suspicion

Military Gendarmerie in Łódź has arrested a 31-year-old man participating in a reserve officer training course at the Medical Military Academy. The suspect, identified as Vasilij, holds dual Polish and Ukrainian citizenship.

During the arrest, authorities seized several mobile phones, sets of documents, stamps, a large amount of currency, and gold. The Military Counterintelligence Service and the Łódź-Polesie District Prosecutor's Office are leading the investigation.

The suspect is officially accused of espionage under Article 130, paragraph 3 of the Penal Code, among other crimes. A Military Garrison Court in Warsaw has ordered a three-month temporary arrest. Details regarding the specific entity the individual allegedly worked for have not been disclosed by authorities.
