Polish Military Helicopter Under Investigation After Zacisze Power Outage
On 6 August 2026 a Polish Mi‑2 military helicopter was conducting a training flight near the village of Zacisze in the Białystok region when it is suspected of striking a 15 kV medium‑voltage power line. The contact caused the line to break, leaving residents without electricity for several hours until power was restored around 23:00.
The Military Police (Żandarmeria Wojskowa) in Białystok opened an investigation to determine whether the aircraft was responsible. The helicopter returned safely to its base and will undergo a detailed technical examination. A spokesperson for the commander‑in‑chief, Colonel Dariusz Rozkosz, said the inquiry is ongoing and updates will be provided as they become available. The incident recalls a similar 2023 event in which a police Black Hawk helicopter cut a power line during a public ceremony.
