Polish Ministry Launches Fruit Promotion Campaign Amid Tough Season
Poland’s Ministry of Agriculture, led by Minister Stefan Krajewski, has started the "To Twój Pewniak!" campaign to encourage consumers to buy domestic fruit after a season marked by frost, drought, heat, hail and heavy rain. The initiative highlights the quality, safety and origin of Polish berries such as strawberries, blueberries, currants and gooseberries, and promotes a new "zero pesticide residue" category of fruit that showed no detectable pesticide traces in laboratory tests.
At the same time, the early arrival of Polish cherries in shops has prompted home‑brewing guides. A common recipe calls for 1 kg of cherries, 500 ml of spirit, 500 g of sugar and 200 ml of water, with the fruit macerated for about six weeks in a dark place before filtering and further ageing. The guide stresses the use of fresh, local cherries as part of the season’s culinary offerings.
