Polish missionary supports vulnerable children in Bolivia

A Polish Teresian nun, Sister Joanna Olszewska, is operating a center in Oruro, Bolivia, to support over 120 children on the Andean plateau. Supported by Caritas Polska, the facility provides aid to children from approximately 60 families, many of whom face extreme poverty and illiteracy.

Originally established to assist street children, the center has expanded its mission to include students with learning difficulties and those requiring specialized therapy for conditions such as autism and ADHD. The facility helps address gaps in the local public school system, which often struggles to meet the needs of these students.

Recent political crises and road blockades in the region have further complicated access to food and medicine. The center's funding assists with training local staff, covering transportation costs, and maintaining stimulation rooms to support the children's development.
