Polish MP Anna Maria Żukowska discusses abortion protests following radio interview tension
During a radio interview on Trójka, New Left MP Anna Maria Żukowska addressed upcoming abortion rights protests in Poland. The lawmaker announced her intention to participate in a demonstration in Warsaw scheduled for Thursday, October 22.
The protests, organized by Strajk Kobiet, are planned across 28 Polish cities with demands for the full legalization of abortion. This follows recent legislative actions by the Sejm, which passed a law allowing abortion in cases of severe fetal abnormalities and a penal code amendment providing for partial decriminalization. These bills are now moving to the Senate and then to the President.
The interview also featured a tense exchange between Żukowska and journalist Renata Grochal after the MP arrived seven minutes late to the studio, citing traffic on Puławska Street. Grochal remarked that punctuality is a matter of respect for the audience and suggested the lawmaker set an alarm earlier in the future.
