Polish MP Jarosław Sachajko faces scrutiny over Chinese smart glasses
Polish Member of Parliament Jarosław Sachajko has sparked controversy after being observed using Even Realities G2 smart glasses during parliamentary speeches. The device, manufactured by a Chinese company based in Shenzhen, features a teleprompter function that displays text directly onto the lenses, allowing the user to read speeches without physical notes.
Critics and security experts have raised significant concerns regarding data privacy and national security. A report from cybersecurity firm Suzu Labs suggests the glasses may pose risks, noting that the device utilizes four microphones to collect ambient audio. Experts, including former intelligence officer Major Robert Cheda, have argued that using Chinese-made intelligent devices in the Sejm constitutes a lack of responsibility, citing that such technology is subject to Chinese intelligence laws.
Sachajko defended his use of the technology, stating the glasses assist with vision impairments and facilitate speech preparation. He characterized the privacy concerns as exaggerated and emphasized that the content of his speeches is more important than the method of delivery. He also noted the use of an R1 ring to scroll through text.
