Polish MP Mariusz Krystian Sued After Comparing Doctor to Nazi Mengele

Lawmaker Mariusz Krystian of the Law and Justice party posted a short video on X in front of Warsaw's South Hospital, claiming that a doctor there, Dawid Kacprzyk, was "dr Mengele" and referencing former Deputy Prime Minister Donald Tusk. After public outcry, Krystian removed the post, but Kacprzyk’s lawyer, Jacek Dubois, announced that the doctor will file a civil suit for defamation and protection of personal rights.

The case may be referred to the Sejm Ethics Committee, whose chair Ewa Schaedler said the remarks "hurt the image of the Sejm" and pledged to consider disciplinary action. Opposition MP Witold Zembaczyński also condemned the statement, calling it an illegal reference to a Nazi criminal. Kacprzyk, a specialist who earned 1.6 million zł in the previous year, was previously removed from the South Hospital after a separate controversy involving alleged preferential treatment for politicians. The lawsuit and potential ethics proceedings highlight ongoing tensions over the hospital scandal and political rhetoric in Poland.
