Polish MP raises security concerns over Ukrainian Veterans Corps in Warsaw

The opening of a Warsaw branch of the Ukrainian Veterans Corps during the UA FEST event in Mokotow has prompted calls for government clarification regarding national security. Polish MP Andrzej Śliwka of the Law and Justice (PiS) party has requested urgent explanations from Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the ruling coalition.

Śliwka raised concerns over whether Polish security services verified the initiative and analyzed its potential consequences. Specific worries include the organization's alleged links to controversial groups, such as the Azov movement and OUN-UPA, and the long-term implications of establishing infrastructure that could facilitate the permanent settlement of large numbers of foreign combat veterans in Poland.

The lawmaker also highlighted risks related to the reintegration of veterans dealing with PTSD and the potential for illegal arms trafficking. He urged a comprehensive security assessment and the consideration of regulations to prevent similar organizations from operating without oversight.
