Polish Volunteer Fire Brigades Compete in Heat‑Stricken Local Sports Events

Volunteer fire brigades in several Polish municipalities held local sport‑fire competitions despite extreme summer heat. In Chąśno, the Gmina Zawody Sportowo‑Pożarnicze saw OSP Wyborów win the men's group A, while youth teams from OSP Karsznice Duże and OSP Mastki took top spots in their age categories. The event proceeded under tropical temperatures, with competitions starting around 9:00 a.m.

In Krasnostaw County, the Powiatowe Zawody Sportowo‑Pożarnicze were moved forward to 8:00 a.m. because temperatures exceeded 30 °C. OSP KSRG Krzywe claimed overall victory, followed by OSP Tarnogóra and OSP Olszanka. Organisers cancelled the ceremonial opening and some youth combat demonstrations for safety.

Goworowo hosted its Gminne Zawody Sportowo‑Pożarnicze on 28 June, also shifting the start to 9:00 a.m. after forecasts of 36 °C. OSP Kruszewo dominated the men’s competition, while OSP Ponikiew Duża led the women’s teams. Participants and spectators endured the high temperatures, with fire crews deploying water curtains for cooling.
