Polish municipalities expand local social support services
Local governments in Poland are implementing new social support initiatives. In Gliwice, the ‘Złota Rączka’ (Handyman) project has been expanded to include digital assistance, such as help with computers and phones. The program provides free minor home repairs—including plumbing, door adjustments, and lock repairs—to seniors over 60 and people with disabilities. Between 2021 and 2025, 1,454 people utilized the service.
In Zduńska Wola, residents can access free psychological and therapeutic support from September to December 2026. Through an agreement with the Fundacja Przystań z Nami, the city is offering individual consultations for those struggling with addiction and their families. The program also includes educational workshops for parents and teenagers focused on managing stress, emotions, and crisis situations.
