Polish municipalities invest in civil defense and emergency equipment

Local governments in Poland are enhancing their emergency response capabilities through the Population Protection and Civil Defense Program for 2025–2026.

In Gmina Nysa, officials have purchased an Isuzu D-Max 4x4 pickup truck designed for evacuations during floods and other crises. The vehicle is equipped with a towing hitch to transport rescue boats and high-power generators. Mayor Kordian Kolbiarz noted that the vehicle is essential for reaching areas where standard vehicles cannot travel, particularly due to the municipality's proximity to the Nysa Kłodzka, Biała Głuchołaska, Mora, and Kamienica rivers, as well as Lake Nysa.

Similarly, Gmina Zawidów is investing in specialized equipment to increase community resilience. Their acquisitions include a column spreader for stabilizing structures, a pneumatic tent for mobile medical or command centers, a three-phase generator for emergency power, a high-performance motor pump for flooding, and a demolition hammer for clearing debris or creating evacuation paths.
