Polish municipalities offer cash prizes for best harvest and balcony decorations

Local authorities in Poland have launched two separate contests encouraging residents to beautify their properties. In Biłgoraj County, a 500 zł prize is offered for the most attractive harvest‑season decoration of a private yard, with applications open to all inhabitants.

Another nationwide competition invites residents to submit their most creative balcony designs, awarding up to 2,500 zł. The balcony contest, running until 31 August, aims to promote biodiversity, improve micro‑climate conditions and stimulate the local gardening market.

Both initiatives seek to increase green space, enhance community aesthetics and provide modest financial incentives for civic participation.
