Polish music scene celebrates Grupa SETA jubilee and new jazz release

The Polish music scene is highlighting significant milestones in the genres of sung poetry and jazz. In Szczecin, the Wierszogranie event will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Grupa SETA. The jubilee concert, scheduled for September 26 at the Dom Kultury 13 Muz, will feature members of the group performing a repertoire of tourist songs and poetic music, including works by Andrzej Wierzbicki. The event will also include a performance by the band Mikroklimat, which blends ballad and poetic song with jazz, blues, and folk elements.

In the jazz genre, the Janusz Mackiewicz Quartet has released a new album titled ‘Soulmate’. Led by prominent Polish double bassist Janusz Mackiewicz, the quartet—consisting of Marcin Wądołowski, Dominik Bukowski, and Marcin Jahr—focuses on improvised music born from a desire for musical dialogue. The compositions were developed by Mackiewicz during the pandemic as a response to the lack of live musical encounters and professional collaboration.
