Polish national arrested for murder of woman in Marburg

A 42-year-old Polish national has been arrested in Poland following the murder of a 35-year-old woman in Marburg, Germany. The victim's body was discovered on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in bushes near the street ‘Am Erlengraben’. An autopsy revealed she had been killed with 19 stab wounds.

The victim had previously sought refuge in a women's shelter due to a former partner, though authorities clarified that the current suspect was not that individual. Prosecutors state that the victim and the suspect had a relationship in the past and had met on the Wednesday the crime occurred. Following the attack, the suspect fled Germany, prompting the Marburg District Court to issue both national and European arrest warrants.
