Polish Navy addresses Chinese robot presence in Świnoujście

A spokesperson for the 8th Coastal Defense Flotilla has addressed concerns regarding the presence of a Chinese humanoid robot, the Unitree G1, at a military installation in Świnoujście. The robot appeared in a promotional video for the Polish Navy intended to invite participation in the upcoming Polish Armed Forces Day celebrations.

Commander Lieutenant Grzegorz Lewandowski stated that the robot’s presence was strictly limited to a specific, pre-determined location and time as part of the filming scenario. He emphasized that the robot did not move freely around the military port, had no access to restricted areas, and did not have access to sensitive infrastructure.

The incident follows expert warnings regarding the potential security risks posed by Chinese-made technology, specifically concerning data collection via cameras and sensors. The promotional video was subsequently removed from the Polish Navy’s X profile.
