Polish officials push for Central Railway Corridor while rejecting Czarny Dunajec bypass

Representatives of six local governments in south‑central Poland – including Radom, Rzeszów, Tarnobrzeg, Sandomierz, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski and Starachowice – have called on the Ministry of Infrastructure to restore the Central Railway Corridor (Korytarz Centralny) to the Integrated Railway Network plan. They met with Deputy Minister for the Central Transport Hub, Piotr Malepszak, and presented a proposal for a 12‑17 billion‑złoty investment to rebuild the Warsaw‑Rzeszów line over the next 10‑15 years.

In the village of Czarny Dunajec, the municipal council voted against a resolution to fund a multi‑variant bypass project. Mayor Marcin Ratułowski announced that no bypass will be built, citing concerns that the scheme could cost up to 50 million złoty and that the municipality would bear significant expenses for land acquisition and ancillary works. He warned that the project could divert funds from other local needs.
