Polish opposition leader Kacinski says Ukraine must drop Bandera glorification to join EU

Jaroslav Kacinski, leader of Poland’s Law and Justice (PiS) opposition party, wrote to party members that Ukraine will not be admitted to the European Union if it continues to honor Stepan Bandera and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA). He said his party would use all available means to block any EU integration steps that tolerate such glorification.

Kacinski also condemned Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s decision to name a military unit after a UPA hero, calling the move unacceptable for Poland. He accused the current Polish government of a one‑sided policy favoring Kyiv under Berlin’s influence, while stressing Poland’s historic support for Ukraine during the war.
