Polish Parents and Teachers Plan Nationwide Protest Against Education Reforms

On 14 June, a coalition of parents, teachers and school directors – the Koalicja na Rzecz Ocalenia Polskiej Szkoły – will hold a mass demonstration in Warsaw, gathering before the Copernicus Monument at noon. The protest targets the Ministry of Education’s upcoming "Reforma ’26. Kompas Jutra", slated to begin in the 2026/27 school year, which proposes significant curriculum cuts, a reduced literary canon, new mandatory health‑education classes and the inclusion of gender‑related concepts.

Organisers accuse Minister of Education Barbara Nowacka of lowering academic standards, limiting parental authority over upbringing, and steering Polish schooling toward EU and UN‑driven frameworks. They call the reforms an "ideological" overhaul that threatens the nation’s cultural cohesion and the sovereignty of Polish education.

The rally’s slogan, "Dobra szkoła – silna Polska!" (Good school – strong Poland), reflects demands for higher teaching standards, preservation of humanities subjects, and the removal of what participants describe as indoctrination. Participants hope the protest will force the government to halt or revise the planned changes.
