In Poland, parents are increasingly choosing highly original names for their children, drawing inspiration from pop‑culture figures such as Daenerys, Yennefer and Khaleesi, as well as geographic and natural terms like Sahara and Magnolia. At the same time, a minimalist trend is gaining traction, with many opting for two‑letter names such as An, Li, Lu, Jo and Bo, which are praised for their simplicity and memorability. Both trends reflect a broader move away from classic names toward distinctive, often internationally influenced choices. Polish civil‑registry rules still require that a name indicate gender and not be obscene, leading to occasional rejections of more extreme proposals.
