Polish parishes celebrate 700th and 800th anniversaries

Various religious communities in Poland are marking significant historical milestones. In Żelechów, the Parish of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary celebrated its 700th anniversary. The commemorations, led by Bishop Kazimierz Gurda, included a solemn Eucharist and the consecration of a new altar. The parish's history dates back to 1326, having survived the Reformation, wars, and several fires that destroyed church buildings and documents.

In Wrocław, the St. Maurice Parish celebrated its 800th anniversary. The festivities included a procession with relics of St. Maurice transported from Switzerland, a mass celebrated by Bishop Maciej Małyga, and a community festival. The event was attended by local officials, including Wrocław Mayor Jacek Sutryk. To honor the milestone, a local square is set to be renamed St. Maurice Square.
