Polish pharmacy staff and families tackle common colds and August allergies at home
A study commissioned by Kenvue surveyed 291 Polish pharmacy employees – pharmacists and pharmacy technicians – about how they treat nasal congestion in their own families. The most common home remedy reported was saline nasal irrigation (68%), followed by decongestant nasal sprays with moisturising action (61%).
Health experts also warned that August remains a high‑risk month for allergy sufferers in Poland. Pollen from ragweed and ambrosia, as well as mold spores from Alternaria and Cladosporium, can aggravate symptoms such as runny nose, sneezing and itchy eyes. Recommendations to reduce indoor allergens include regular HEPA‑filtered vacuuming, frequent laundering of bedding and curtains, maintaining proper indoor humidity, and ventilating after rain or when pollen counts are lower.
Together, these insights highlight practical steps for both pharmacy professionals and the broader public to manage common colds and seasonal allergies within the household.
