Polish PiS candidate Przemysław Czarnek vows ministries audit after river pollution and fish die‑off

Przemysław Czarnek, the Law and Justice (PiS) candidate for prime minister, described the recent fish mortality in the Bóbr River as a "catastrophe" caused by a lack of oversight. Laboratory tests revealed mercury levels 50 % above the limit, phosphorus concentrations up to 80 times the norm, and dissolved‑oxygen levels as low as 8 %, leading to the death of about 15 tonnes of fish. He blamed the energy company Tauron and the Ministry of Climate and Environment for failing to ensure proper water levels during a heat wave and announced that PiS will launch extensive inspections in ministries and government offices to expose what he called the "complete indolence" of the current government.
