Polish PM Donald Tusk Urges Continued Cooperation with Ukraine as Reconstruction Conference Proceeds

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that ongoing cooperation between Poland and Ukraine serves the interests of both nations, stressing that the partnership involves "hundreds of billions of dollars" that will be spent by Polish companies in Ukraine after the war. He noted that Poland has helped prepare around two hundred agreements, many of them direct Polish‑Ukrainian deals.

The International Conference on Ukraine’s Reconstruction is set for 25‑26 June in Gdańsk. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky will not attend after Poland revoked his Order of the White Eagle; instead, Ukraine will be represented by Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko. Tusk described Zelensky’s absence as a "gesture of de‑escalation of tensions" and said the conference will go ahead with participation from about 1,000 companies – roughly a third from Ukraine, a third from Poland and the rest from other countries.

Tusk emphasized that despite recent diplomatic strains, the conference will continue and aims to attract investment, develop partnerships, and present concrete post‑war reconstruction solutions.
