Police arrest man in Rotterdam for football ticket fraud

A 31-year-old man has been arrested in Rotterdam on suspicion of identity fraud linked to a football ticket scam. The investigation began after it was discovered that a staff member's account at the football club sc Heerenveen had been hacked.

The suspect allegedly used the compromised credentials to sell fraudulent tickets on the Marktplaats platform. Buyers, believing they were purchasing from legitimate season ticket holders, were only alerted to the deception when the club invalidated the suspicious tickets at the stadium.

Police seized electronic devices, including a laptop and a phone, from the suspect's home in the Pernis district to assist with the ongoing investigation. Authorities have urged football clubs to report hacked accounts and advised fans to use only official sales channels to avoid similar scams.
