Poland launches nationwide school safety initiative
Poland has launched a nationwide safety initiative titled ‘Safe Road to School’ to protect young cyclists and pedestrians. As part of a program coordinated by the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Ministry of Education, approximately 65,000 helmets are being distributed across the country. In the Kujawsko-Pomorskie region, nearly 3,500 helmets are being provided to students, with Bydgoszcz serving as an early implementation site.
In addition to equipment distribution, police forces in cities such as Częstochowa and Radomsko are conducting educational campaigns throughout September. These efforts include teaching children proper road crossing techniques, the importance of using designated pedestrian crossings, and the necessity of wearing reflective elements to improve visibility. Officers are also emphasizing compliance with new regulations regarding mandatory helmet use for those using bicycles or scooters.
