Polish Police launch school safety campaign with Yanosik app

The Polish Police, in collaboration with the Yanosik application and Screen Network, have launched a safety campaign titled ‘Slow Down Near Schools’ (Zwalniaj przy szkołach) running throughout September. The initiative uses Yanosik’s voice alerts and LED screens to notify drivers when they are approaching educational facilities.

The campaign has faced criticism from the activist group Miasto Jest Nasze. Critics on social media have characterized the partnership as a contradiction, noting that Yanosik is frequently used by drivers to avoid police inspections. Activists pointed out that in Germany, using applications to report police presence or speed cameras is prohibited and punishable by fines, whereas the current Polish initiative involves direct cooperation with such technology.
