Polish Police mark 100 years of district officer role

The Polish Police are marking the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the district officer position. The role was officially created in 1926 through orders issued by Inspector Marian Borzęcki, the Commander-in-Chief of the State Police.

District officers serve as the primary point of contact for residents, focusing on local security, addressing community concerns, and building trust within neighborhoods. In the Warmia-Masuria region, 285 officers currently serve across 19 organizational units, with women making up approximately 20% of the force. To qualify for the role, officers must have at least three years of service and specialized training.

In Krotoszyn County, 16 district officers are currently active, covering various areas including the city and municipality of Krotoszyn, Koźmin Wielkopolski, Rozdrażew, Zduny, Sulmierzyce, and Kobylin. These officers utilize tools such as the National Security Threat Map to identify and address local safety issues.
