Police Officer Natan Sieroń dies after shooting in Kraśnik Górny
A 29-year-old police officer, Sergeant Natan Sieroń, has died following a shooting during a police operation in Kraśnik Górny, near Bolesławiec. The incident occurred on Thursday, September 24, around 11:00 AM, while officers were investigating a suspected theft on a residential property.
According to investigators, a 33-year-old man returned to the property during the operation and fired two shots from a 9mm Browning HP pistol at the officers. One bullet struck Sergeant Sieroń in the head. The officer was airlifted by the Air Ambulance Service to a hospital in Legnica, where he underwent neurosurgery, but he succumbed to his injuries on Friday evening.
The suspect was apprehended following a police pursuit. He has been charged with attempted murder, active assault on a law enforcement officer, and illegal possession of weapons. He has admitted to the charges. Prosecutors have requested a three-month temporary arrest, noting that the suspect faces between 15 years in prison and life imprisonment. Following the officer's death, the legal classification of the crime is expected to be upgraded to murder.
Investigations revealed that the 33-year-old suspect has a prior criminal record in Germany, including convictions related to the illegal trafficking of firearms and ammunition.
