Polish police penalize minors and parents for electric scooter violations

Polish police have reported multiple incidents involving minors operating electric scooters without proper qualifications or safety equipment. In Kurów, parents were fined a total of 1,100 PLN each after two minors were caught riding without required documentation and without protective helmets.

In Zielona Góra, separate incidents involving 14-year-olds have led to legal consequences. One group of teenagers was caught riding without bicycle cards, and one individual attempted to flee from officers after performing dangerous maneuvers, such as riding on a single wheel. One teenager was reportedly traveling at speeds up to 79 km/h, significantly exceeding the 20 km/h limit. These cases are being referred to family courts.

Authorities remind the public that individuals aged 10 to 18 must possess a bicycle card or an appropriate driving license (categories AM, A1, B1, or T) to operate electric scooters on public roads. Police emphasize that helmets are essential for preventing serious injury during falls or collisions.
