Polish police warn of online OLX scam and fuel‑station phone theft

Police in Gostyń County reported that a man was deceived into transferring 9,000 złoty after a fraudster impersonated a bank employee during an OLX sale. The victim clicked a bogus link, entered banking codes, and later discovered the money had been withdrawn.

In Zgorzelec County, officers arrested a 45‑year‑old man who took a forgotten mobile phone from a petrol station and fled. The suspect, a repeat offender, faces charges of appropriation of another's movable property, with possible penalties of fine, restriction of liberty, or up to one year imprisonment.

Both incidents prompted the police to remind the public that personal items should be handed over to venue staff, that banks never request login codes via phone calls, and that suspicious links must be verified before use.
