Polish political developments involving Jakub Banaszek and Sebastian Kaleta

Jakub Banaszek, the President of Chełm, has officially completed his legal training and passed the bar exam. After starting his apprenticeship in Warsaw in 2022 to avoid potential conflicts of interest regarding administrative decisions, Banaszek has now been admitted to the bar. He has stated via social media that he intends to remain in his role as Mayor for the remainder of his term.

Separately, PiS Member of Parliament Sebastian Kaleta has raised allegations regarding a network of personal connections involving the association ‘Kobiety w Centrum’. Kaleta claims that members of the organization are occupying key positions within state-owned enterprises and public institutions. Specifically, he pointed to AMW Rewita, a state-owned company managing former military recreation centers, noting that its board and supervisory board include vice-presidents of the association.
