Polish politicians' asset declarations reveal high ZUS benefits
Recent reviews of asset declarations from Polish parliamentarians have highlighted significant income streams from the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS).
Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, received a total of 140,906.97 PLN gross from ZUS over the last calendar year. His monthly pension currently stands at approximately 11,600 PLN gross. In addition to these benefits, his parliamentary mandate generates 138,413.16 PLN gross in remuneration, supplemented by a parliamentary diet.
Stanisław Szwed, also from the Law and Justice party, emerged as a top beneficiary of the pension system among current MPs. His ZUS payments totaled 258,500 PLN gross over a 12-month period, averaging approximately 21,500 PLN gross per month. Szwed attributed this high amount to delaying retirement until age 69, previous work in hazardous conditions as an electrician, and his long-standing parliamentary career.
