Polish President Karol Nawrocki's Mother’s Home Hit by False Alarm, Police Force Entry

False reports submitted through the Alarm112 emergency app prompted emergency services to forcibly enter the apartment of President Karol Nawrocki’s mother on 23 May. Two calls were received – one alleging a fire and danger to life, the second claiming a cardiac arrest – leading firefighters and police to breach the door; the flat was later found empty and the alarm proved unfounded.

The Ministry of the Interior and Administration (MSWiA) confirmed it is examining the incident. Vice‑minister Czesław Mroczek said investigators have gathered specific information about the perpetrators but will not disclose details. MSWiA announced it is working on stricter verification measures for Alarm112 users, including possible advanced identity‑authentication tools, and noted that recent legal amendments allow funding such improvements from civil‑defence programmes.

Media reports suggest the false alerts may have been sent using anonymisation techniques that allowed the callers to monitor responders’ actions, raising concerns about the security of emergency‑call applications.
