Polish President Nawrocki and PM Tusk Back Olympic Bid, Call for Cost Transparency

President Karol Nawrocki and Prime Minister Donald Tusk have publicly expressed support for Poland’s effort to submit a candidature to host the Olympic Games, with discussions focusing on possible editions in 2040 or 2044. The Polish Olympic Committee has authorized its president, Radosław Piesiewicz, to begin the formal application process with the International Olympic Committee.

Both leaders emphasized that political consensus is insufficient without a transparent financial plan. They called for detailed accounting of expected costs, sources of funding, and long‑term benefits such as improved transport infrastructure and community sports facilities, warning against building venues that become unused after the event.
