False Fire Alarm Triggers Forced Entry at President Nawrocki’s Family Home

On the night of 23 May 2026 a false alarm was sent to Poland’s emergency number 112 reporting a fire and a life‑threatening situation in a Gdańsk apartment belonging to a member of President Karol Nawrocki’s family. Firefighters, police and medical teams responded, forced the doors open and found the flat empty with no fire.

The incident sparked a rapid political response. Prime Minister Donald Tusk convened an emergency meeting with ministers and senior security officials, labeling the attacks “provocations” and promising to use all available means to identify the perpetrators. Interior Minister Marcin Kierwiński also called a crisis meeting of the ministries and emergency services. The Gdańsk District Prosecutor’s Office opened a criminal investigation, assigning the case to the Central Bureau of Cybercrime, and warned that false alarms can carry up to eight years imprisonment.
