Polish prosecutor investigates death of woman during childbirth

The District Prosecutor's Office in Świdnica is investigating the death of Joanna S., who died during childbirth at the E. Biernacki Specialist Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Wałbrzych. The incident occurred on October 26 during a cesarean section, when the patient suffered a massive hemorrhage. While the mother passed away, the child survived.

Prosecutor Mariusz Pindera stated that the hospital reported the incident to authorities as a standard procedure. Investigators are working to determine whether the death was an accident or the result of medical negligence. Medical documentation has been secured, and an autopsy was scheduled for October 30 to assist in the investigation. Experts will be called to provide opinions on whether any life-threatening errors occurred.
