Polish prosecutors announce new evidence in 2010 disappearance of Iwona Wieczorek

Prosecutor Eryk Stasielak disclosed that investigators have obtained a new piece of evidence concerning the time and location of Iwona Wieczorek’s disappearance in 2010. The evidence, obtained through the use of georadar, was gathered in a precisely defined area of the Pomeranian coast, near Park Reagan, where surveillance cameras last captured the 19‑year‑old woman.

Wieczorek vanished on the night of 16–17 July 2010 after leaving a club in Sopot and was last seen around 02:50 a.m. on the Jelitkowo promenade, about 20 minutes from her home in Gdańsk. The case remains one of Poland’s most high‑profile missing‑person investigations, and searches for her remains continue with specialized equipment, though authorities declined to reveal the exact search sites.

The prosecutor emphasized that the ongoing work is not linked to the anniversary of the disappearance and that the investigation proceeds methodically regardless of the calendar date.
