Polish prosecutors defend investigation into President Nawrocki attack

The Świdnica prosecutor's office has addressed allegations regarding the investigation into a suspected assassination attempt on President Karol Nawrocki. Authorities defended the appointment of Daniel Niżnik, a prosecutor with two years of experience, noting that his selection was due to the heavy workload of other staff rather than family connections. Niżnik is the son-in-law of Hanna Wojciechowska, the deputy Regional Prosecutor in Wrocław.

Additionally, officials clarified that the investigation was initiated ex officio, contradicting claims by attorney Roman Giertych that it was prompted by a notification he submitted. The incident in question relates to events occurring during the May 2025 election campaign.
