Polish public broadcasters receive major funding boost as radio audience slips
In the first half of 2026, the daily reach of radio in Poland fell to 60 % of the adult population, down from 64 % a year earlier. The number of daily listeners aged 15‑75 dropped to 17.4 million, a loss of 1.2 million people, while average listening time rose to four hours and five minutes, with the 15‑24 age group extending their listening by 20 minutes.
The Krajowa Rada Radiofonii i Telewizji (KRRiT) allocated 291.248 million zł to public broadcasters from licence‑fee revenues during the same period. Telewizja Polska (TVP) received the largest share, 123.378 million zł, followed by Polskie Radio with 59.319 million zł and regional public stations with 58.628 million zł. An additional 49.923 million zł came from court‑returned deposits. KRRiT expects to disburse another 361.987 million zł in the second half of 2026, bringing total licence‑fee distributions for the year to about 603.312 million zł.
