Polish towns roll out children's library and cultural holidays program

Across several Polish municipalities, local authorities and libraries have organized a range of holiday activities for children. In early February a city hosted a two‑week winter break programme offering sports, theatre, film screenings and creative workshops in partnership with cultural centres, libraries and a museum.

During the summer months, libraries in Grabowo, Mińsk Mazowiecki, Bydgoszcz, Racibórz, Ostrowiec Świętokrzyski, Zielonka and Olszewo‑Borki ran programs that include author talks—such as a meeting with children's writer Magdalena Bernat‑Protaziuk and a book‑launch event with Dagmara Kalinko—reading contests, themed film sessions, and hands‑on creative workshops.

Environmental education was highlighted by the Letnia Akademia Recyklingu in Bydgoszcz, which invited children to submit literary pieces and model “mini‑worlds” made from recycled materials. Recreational outings featured visits to the Park Wodny Dolinka water park and organised music‑dance evenings in local parks. Together, these initiatives aim to provide educational, cultural and leisure opportunities for children during school holidays.
